Arbitrum, Ubisoft announce launch date for Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.

Arbitrum Foundation and Ubisoft have announced that the web3 shooter game Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. will launch on Dec. 18.

Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. is a multiplayer shooter inspired by the animated Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. The game will go live on Arbitrum (ARB) and integrate web3 wallet solution Sequence.

The Sequence team is supported by notable backers such as Take-Two Interactive, Brevan Howard, Ubisoft, and Coinbase.

Free NFT mint on Magic Eden

Ahead of the launch, Arbitrum and Ubisoft have partnered with Magic Eden to release a free mint of the Niji Warrior non-fungible token collection. This NFT collection, which became available on Dec. 11, offers exclusive perks to players, including early access, VIP community channels, and unique rewards.

Niji Warrior NFTs will help with the game’s onboarding experience, the platforms said in a press release.

“Today’s mint, and next week’s launch, will be a cornerstone moment as we look towards the future of game development and player experience. Forever, players have followed the storylines, character arcs, and game designs that were given to them. Now, that changes,” Nina Rong, head of partnerships at Arbitrum Foundation, said.

Ubisoft, a leading AAA game publisher, is known for its globally successful franchises, including Assassin’s Creed, Brawlhalla, and Tom Clancy’s series such as Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and The Division.

The company’s ventures into blockchain gaming include partnerships with Immutable, Cronos, and Hedera.

In October, Ubisoft announced the debut of its web3 game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles on Oasys. This came months after the game publisher revealed plans for a gaming partnership with Arbitrum – the initial announcement for Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E. on Arbitrum was on August 6, 2024.
