Binance Updates Monitoring and Seed Tags for Select Tokens

On January 2, 2025, Binance, one of the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchanges, announced updates to its Monitoring and Seed Tags as part of its ongoing review process.

These changes aim to ensure user awareness of risks associated with certain tokens listed on its platform.

Changes to Monitoring and Seed Tags

The following updates have been implemented:

  1. Tokens Added to the Monitoring Tag List:
    • StormX (STMX)
    • TROY (TROY)

Tokens with the Monitoring Tag are identified as exhibiting higher levels of volatility and risk compared to other listed assets. These tokens undergo frequent reviews and could be subject to delisting if they fail to meet Binance’s listing criteria.

  2. Tokens Removed from the Monitoring Tag List:
    • Convex Finance (CVX)
    • Sun (SUN)
  3. Tokens Removed from the Seed Tag List:
    • Arkham (ARKM)
    • Blur (BLUR)
    • Jito (JTO)
    • Celestia (TIA)

The Seed Tag, introduced by Binance to identify tokens with higher speculative characteristics, is now being removed from the above-listed tokens following the company’s latest reviews.

Implications for Users

Users trading tokens marked with the Monitoring or Seed Tags must pass a risk-awareness quiz every 90 days on Binance’s Spot and/or Margin trading platforms. These quizzes are designed to inform users of potential risks before trading. Additionally, tokens with these tags are accompanied by risk warning banners on trading pages and the Markets Overview page.

The Monitoring and Seed Tags are part of Binance’s ongoing efforts to ensure transparency and user protection in a highly dynamic and sometimes volatile cryptocurrency market.

Binance’s Review Process

Binance evaluates tokens regularly based on criteria such as:

  • The project team’s commitment and activity levels.
  • Trading volume and liquidity.
  • Network security and stability.
  • Ethical behavior and responsiveness to due diligence requests.
  • Contribution to a sustainable crypto ecosystem.

Tokens that fail to meet these standards risk being tagged or delisted from the platform.
